We apostille UK death certificates for use in 120+ countries — overseas probate, foreign bank and pension claims, property transfers and repatriation. Same-day FCDO submission from our Guildhall EC2V office. From £79 all-inclusive. Next-day return from £135.
Send us a photo of your death certificate and tell us where it is going. We will confirm the exact price, the turnaround and whether embassy attestation is needed — before you pay anything or post anything.

All packages include the FCDO government fee (£40), document pre-checking and status updates. No hidden costs.

Sending more than one document? Multiple documents in a single submission qualify for a reduced rate — ask us for a combined quote.
The FCDO legalises the certified certificate issued by a UK registrar. Not every document issued after a death qualifies, and sending the wrong one costs a week.
| Document | Notes |
|---|---|
| ✅ Register office certified copy | The standard certified copy of the entry in the death register, issued by the register office for the district where the death was registered. This is the correct document. |
| ✅ GRO certified copy | A certified copy ordered from the General Register Office. Fully acceptable — and the fastest route if the original has been sent elsewhere. We can order one for you. |
| ✅ Scottish and Northern Irish extracts | Extracts issued by National Records of Scotland or GRO Northern Ireland are legalised in the same way. |
| ❌ Coroner's interim certificate | An Interim Certificate of the Fact of Death is issued while an inquest is open. Because the death is not yet fully registered, it is treated differently and often rejected by foreign authorities — talk to us before sending one. |
| ❌ Certificate for burial or cremation | The "green form" and the cremation paperwork are not records of the registered death and cannot be used in place of a death certificate. |
| ❌ Photocopies and scans | The FCDO will not legalise a photocopy or a printout, even a certified one. Order an additional certified copy instead — it is cheaper than the delay. |
