Why Do You Need Kuwait Consulate Legalisation?
Kuwait is not a signatory to the 1961 Hague Convention, which means the standard FCDO apostille accepted in 125+ countries is not sufficient for personal documents used in Kuwait. The Kuwait Consulate in London must apply its own legalisation stamp confirming the document is valid for use in Kuwait.
Employment in Kuwait
Working in Kuwait requires legalised personal and educational documents — degree certificates, birth certificates, and police clearances — as part of the work visa process.
Family, Marriage & Residency
Joining family in Kuwait, applying for residency, or registering a marriage or child's birth requires legalised personal documents. Note: marriage/divorce documents involving a Kuwaiti citizen need Kuwait MOFA approval first.
Education Recognition
Academic recognition and professional licensing in Kuwait requires legalised degree certificates and transcripts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kuwait require an FCDO apostille on UK documents?
Yes. Kuwait is not a member of the Hague Convention, so a standard FCDO apostille alone is not accepted for use in Kuwait. UK personal documents require FCDO apostille plus Kuwait Consulate legalisation. We handle both stages end-to-end.
How much does Kuwait embassy attestation cost for personal documents?
Civil documents (birth, marriage, death certificates, ACRO) start from £144: £79 for the FCDO apostille (standard, 72 hours) plus £65 for Kuwait Consulate attestation (the Consulate's own £15 government fee plus our £50 service fee). Degree and educational certificates require solicitor certification first (£20), bringing the total to £164. A next-day FCDO option is available for £135, bringing the combined totals to £200 and £220 respectively.
Can multiple documents be bundled under one apostille for Kuwait?
In most cases, yes. However, personal documents intended for a visa application must each be apostilled and legalised individually — this is an exception the Kuwait Consulate applies specifically to visa-related documents. We advise you on this when you enquire.
Do educational documents for Kuwaiti nationals need an in-person appointment?
Yes. The Kuwait Consulate requires Kuwaiti nationals to book an appointment and attend the consular section in person for educational document submission — agents are no longer accepted for this category. We can still manage the FCDO apostille stage for you.
Can the Kuwait Consulate legalise marriage or divorce documents involving a Kuwaiti citizen?
Not directly. These documents must first be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait before the London Consulate can legalise them. We advise on this process when you enquire.
What's needed to legalise a child's birth certificate for Kuwait?
The Kuwait Consulate requires a copy of both parents' passports and a copy of their marriage certificate to be submitted alongside the child's birth certificate.
How long does Kuwait Embassy attestation take for personal documents?
The full process typically takes 7–10 working days. The FCDO apostille is usually released the next working day via our same-day submission, and Kuwait Consulate legalisation is generally completed within 1–2 working days once submitted, subject to current Consulate processing times.
Can I send documents to you if I am overseas?
Yes. We process documents on behalf of clients based outside the UK. You can send documents to our City of London office by international courier. We return completed documents internationally via DHL (£60 to Kuwait) or Royal Mail international tracked post (£20).
