Document Certification
Many countries want a document notarised or certified by a solicitor before it can be apostilled. We arrange that step and the FCDO apostille together, so the document only leaves your hands once.
When you need a notary
Documents that are not issued by a UK public authority — company paperwork, declarations, powers of attorney, photocopies of passports and degree certificates — usually cannot go straight to the FCDO. A notary public or a solicitor has to certify them first. Documents issued by the General Register Office, the DVLA, HMRC, ACRO or a UK university registry generally do not.
Powers of attorney
Signed in front of a notary, then apostilled — commonly required for property sales, banking and court matters abroad.
Declarations & affidavits
Single-status declarations, same-person declarations and sworn statements for overseas authorities.
Certified copies
Certified true copies of passports, degree certificates and company documents where the original cannot be sent.
Company documents
Board resolutions, certificates of incorporation and good standing certificates for overseas trade and tenders.
