Thailand Embassy Attestation — Common Questions
Do I need a Thai Embassy attestation, or is an FCDO apostille enough?
For now, you need both. Thailand acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, but the Convention does not come into force there until 28 February 2027. Until that date, Thai authorities still require the traditional two-stage chain: an FCDO apostille first, then attestation by the Royal Thai Embassy in London. We manage both stages for you.
What is the Thailand Embassy attestation process?
First, your document is apostilled by the FCDO (standard 72 hours, or next-day for urgent cases). Once apostilled, we submit it to the Royal Thai Embassy in London for attestation — the embassy's own stated processing time is 3 working days, and with submission and return logistics the realistic end-to-end turnaround for this stage is approximately 1 week. How much does Thailand embassy attestation cost?

Will this still be required once Thailand joins the Apostille Convention?
No — once the Convention enters into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027, an FCDO apostille alone is expected to be sufficient for most purposes, without the embassy attestation step. Until that date, however, the embassy stage is still required, and we will update this page as soon as the change takes effect.
Do I need a certified Thai translation as well?
It depends on the receiving authority in Thailand — some accept English-language documents with the apostille and embassy stamp, others require a certified Thai translation.
